New-Build Home on a Grade II Listed Estate
Hawkhurst | Kent
The Clearing Cottage located just off the high street, nestled in the shade of woods, is proposed as an urban farmhouse clad in blackened treated timber. The cottage is in dialogue with the main house of the property, a white painted timber clapboard Georgian family home with Victorian and more modern additi0ns. This Grade 2 Listed house is set deeper into the site and has been historically referred to as ‘The Clearing.’

Paddington, London | W2
The Mews is a 3-storey brick building, located in the Northeast corner at the end of a row of terraced mews. The original purpose had stables on the ground floor and warehouse/ storage on the floors above. A crane still adorns the front, just above a bridge which links two of the mews together. More recently the building with fairly convential and contemporary interior had been used as offices. We converted this into live-work for a painter, reintroducing materials and character back into the building.
Notting Hill | W2
In addition to the general refurbishment of the total house, the owners of this Victorian Terrace house have asked that that the lower ground floor be completely replaced with a new kitchen with concrete floor and underfloor heating. This new space opens up into the garden with enlarged opening and flush floor.

Prescot, Knowsley | UK
Strategically located between Liverpool and Manchester, Prescot is one of Merseyside’s most historic market towns with a rich and active history of coal mining, pottery and even watch making. The town has the added distinction of having been home to the first purpose-built Elizabethan theatre outside of London. The town is currently undergoing an ambitious, five-year redevelopment plan to conserve and celebrate the town’s historic buildings and spaces. Prescot Market Place is central to this plan.

Countryside Home Refurbishment and Extension
Kingsdown | Kent
Near the picturesque village of Kingsdown, not far from the Cliffs of Dover, we were asked to design an extension to an existing house on a secluded, well-situated property with substantial views into the surrounding valley. Our brief was to provide a new extension and renovation of a rather unremarkable, yet potentially charming, mid-century cottage. On the ground floor, we provided a generous, open plan living-dining-kitchen area with double-sided fireplace. This main room of the extension provides our client couple generous spaces for their frequent weekend gatherings of friends. On the first floor is a substantial office-sitting room commanding views to the surrounding landscape.

Islington, London | N1
We were asked by our previous clients (Cross Street) to return to their home and incorporate this small two-storey mews building to the back of Cross Street on Fowler Road. This building was purchased from dressmaker-tailor, who worked there for over 25 years. The space was filled with fabrics with hardly a stitch of space to work. The new use of the building is a writing studio with the capacity to also work as accomodation for a guest, whether a friend, or contributer to their work, such as a writer, director, editor. Studio office space is on the ground floor, connecting to a second studio with sofa bed and bathroom.

Spitalfields, London | E1
The interior of this Grade 2 Listed house in Spitalfields had still retained many of its original features, including timber wall partitions with panelling, original floorboards, cornicing and architraves. Acknowledging the critical value of this property’s Grade 2 listing and heritage, our design approach throughout is to maintain all period features, treating the introduction of anything new literally as ‘pieces of furniture’ - distinct elements separate from the main architecture and easily removable.

This large Grade 2 Listed Victorian terrace house was originally designed as part of a unified scheme, conceived as a series of bow-fronted terraced houses, of which the two ends are flat fronted. This run of around ten houses was built between 1860-62. Each of them has four storeys, plus basement and overlooks an internal, communal crescent-shaped garden with trees.
