GIANT’S CAUSEWAY

New Visitors Centre - International Competition

Northern Ireland

The Giant’s Causeway, a World Heritage site National Nature Reserve in Northern Ireland, is a natural formation created 60 Million years ago out of volcanic eruptions that formed layers of basalt rock in the form of columns. The competition called for the design of a new visitors centre with exhibition and theatre spaces in addition to a restaurant and facilities.

Comprising a hollowed out land mass, the project seeks to emerge seamlessly out of the landscape.
