Listed Georgian Terrace House
Tufnell Park, London | NW5
Our brief was to fully strip out and renovate this Georgian Grade 2 Listed terrace house not far from Hampstead Heath. Central to our work was to maintain and enhance as much of the original house as possible, while bringing some new life and elements to this home for a family of five.
Ground Floor Plan
At the start of our work, we took careful stock of existing elements, including original timber flooring, skirting, architraves, cornicing, as well as fire surrounds. Some elements were new, such as the rear garden terrace with walk-on glazing, contemporary geometric cement entry hall tiles that recalls what was likely traditional encaustic tiles, sadly no longer present. To this we also added some older features, such as original, period timber wainscotting in the entry hall, reclaimed timber panelling to the ceiling of the lower ground floor, a replacement marble hearthstone to match the original fire surround as well as timber stair and new hardwood timber railing to match the original design of the period.
